In the Coatesville hills, architectural designer Jeremy Chapman of JCA Studio composed a material palette of natural, tactile elements to form an interior that gently speaks to the idyllic rural landscape.
Utilising an intentionally restrained palette of just three core materials, the interior of this Coatesville home is warm, tactile, and expressive. Timber-lined ceilings, textured plaster walls, and PeterFell coloured concrete work in harmony to create spaces that feel both crafted and deeply connected to their rural setting.
“We’ve used timber for the ceilings, which brings a really lovely warmth and texture, coupled with textured plaster on the walls, and then anchored the composition with coloured concrete from PeterFell,” Jeremy says.
Running seamlessly throughout the home, the coloured concrete floor provides a calm, unifying foundation — one that ties together spaces of vastly different scale and atmosphere, from expansive living areas overlooking the landscape to intimate, private retreats.
“We selected PeterFell 155 for the floors because of its warmth and the way that it tied in with the other materials — including the exterior clay brick and the warmth of the interior timber finishes. Its got a beautiful chocolatey, earthy undertone … together I think these materials work well to give the home a sense of being grounded in its context, and within the wider rural landscape.”
