Harnessing the expressive properties of natural fibre, Eden Studio has spent a quarter of a century crafting bespoke rugs and carpets for New Zealand’s finest homes and commercial interiors.
The majority of Eden Studio’s work is bespoke; an in-house design team working directly with designers and clients to create rugs with a deliberate, site-specific approach; pieces conceived for the architecture they will inhabit. “For us, it’s about intentional creation. When a space calls for a rug with exacting scale, palette, or form, we can assist in the design and craft it from the ground up,” Eden Studio’s Anna Ormrod explains.
The studio is the evolution of the brand formerly known as CRONZ, but the commitment to local production has not changed, allowing for precise innovation and an uncompromising standard of quality.
“At Eden Studio, we believe that rugs and carpets should be beautiful, considered, and meaningful, not just functional floor coverings,” says Anna. “Every piece we create is meticulously crafted in Christchurch, where tradition meets innovation as we reimagine what floor textiles can be. Our bespoke process harnesses custom-built tufting technology developed in-house, allowing us to craft textures and patterns that go beyond the ordinary.”
Drawing on Aotearoa’s textile heritage and its vibrant design community, the studio stands as a bridge between material and maker. Pure New Zealand wool forms the foundation of the pieces, valued for its exceptional performance, alongside mulberry silk, alpaca, mohair, linen, and nylon; used together to achieve finishes that are at once beautifully soft and enduring.
