As we move into autumn and winter, we find ourselves yearning for a slower pace. In the home, that means inviting colour palettes that embrace a calm, quiet luxury.
While bringing warmth into the home during the summer months is easy thanks to the abundance of natural light, as we head into a cool transition colour becomes a central part of creating nurturing spaces in which to reflect, unwind, and enjoy simple pleasures.
“Warm neutrals, earthy yellows, soft greens and cool blues such as those featured within the Dulux Still palette encapsulate what we find ourselves yearning for this autumn,” Dulux colour specialist Davina Harper says.
“It’s a palette that feels comforting, harmonious and reflects the seasonal shift towards a slower, more reflective pace of life as people retreat indoors.”
The palette has an underlying warmth, with calming neutrals, the perfect way to introduce more richness and subtle colour into the home.
“Dulux Clay Pipe is a brown-based warm neutral ideal for walls and ceilings. This subtle neutral works well with warm white Dulux Epsom to add a sense of inviting warmth to a space.
“Each of the colours within the palette have a greyed-off, soft and muted undertone giving them a timeless, grounded quality. For those wanting to enhance the feeling of sophistication within their home, look to incorporate richer shades from the palette, such as Dulux Clay Court, Dulux Shelly Beach, or Dulux Te Aroha.”
In the character home pictured here, stylist Bree Banfield and the Dulux team have used the Still palette to do just this, creating a balanced harmony between minimalism and subtle luxury.
The rich, reddy brown of Dulux Clay Court acts as a statement above the fireplace, contrasted with Dulux Kauri Cliffs Half on the walls. The bedroom was reinvigorated with Dulux Urenui, a moody blue with grey undertones. “With high ceilings and traditional leadlight glass, the room had a lovely airy feeling but lacked personality [so] incorporating the cool blue has helped bring a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere without dominating the space,” Davina explains.
