The Art of Belonging

Muuto introduced its annual living space during Milan Design Week, this year exploring the interplay of feeling and function. Its latest collection shapes an interior where material, colour, light, and form gently guide how we inhabit and connect.

The Coltre Modular Sofa by Milanese designers Studiopepe for Muuto creates a circular layout in the living room.

The apartment isn’t staged, but imagined as a lived-in environment, where warmth and imperfection allow design to sit naturally within daily life. The interior unfolds as a sequence of rooms, each framed as The Art of…, reflecting familiar domestic rituals. Arriving, gathering, hosting, preparing, listening and winding down are treated as essential acts, with spaces marked by use and time. Personal interests and daily objects are left in view, as if the owner just left the room.

The Re-Norm table anchors the dining room, surrounded by Workshop chairs.

The Coltre Modular Sofa by Studiopepe anchors the living space. Coltre, the Italian word for blanket, is shaped by a quilted textile layer draped over a structured frame. The design reflects a broader exploration of comfort in contemporary living. Softness is both tactile and spatial, expressed through forms that invite use and adaptation.

Elsewhere, the curved Dream View Bench invites daydreaming and relaxation, while its stainless steel materiality mirrors its surroundings. In the dining room, four Workshop chairs surround an interrupted chess game, set atop the three-legged Re-norm table. The scene is intimate and open, as if inviting us to sit down and play.

In the listening room, the Dream View bench brings a sculptural presence, inviting an upward gaze toward the sky.

Milan Apartment 2026 offers a thoughtful perspective on the home as both functional and personal, where design supports the rituals of everyday life through the art of belonging.
